Mrs. Monica Teap-Shinault's Obituary
Monica Channary Teap was born February 10th, 1990, departed this life on Sunday, December 23, 2018. She was the middle child of 5, born to Tha Chan and Sreymon Linda Teap. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2008 Monica graduated from Stratford Comp High School and continued her education at ITT Technical Institute, Class of 2010.
On April 6, 2016, Monica Teap married Justin Shinault. She loved her family: her parents, her siblings, nieces and nephews, she referred to them as “her babies”. She loved them just as if they were her own.
She was fiercely protective of her family and friends. And she was also there for them no matter what, even if she had nothing left to give.
When she was around 15 or so, she was diagnosed with Lupus. For those that don’t much about the disease, it is where the body attacks itself. She struggled for years with one problem after another but she always kept her head up and was determined to accomplish what she desired. Beyond the hospital visits, she made it no matter how weak she was in her illness. She loved others more than herself and always tried to make sure it was known. She made friends everywhere and with everyone: at school, work and in the hospital.
Recently, her health took another turn for the worst. Her kidneys had been failing for a long time and she had a hard time trying to get on the list for transplants. She remained positive through it all but then she had heart problems. She was struggling with her health trying to continue to fight through her illness. But on December 23rd at 10:03 am her struggles ended and she no longer had to fight.
She is survived by her parents, Tha Chan and Sreymon Linda Teap, Step mother Chhan Pech Chan and grandparent Khim Neath. She is survived by her husband Justin Shinault, 4 siblings, Da Chan (Harrison), Mary Elizabeth Chan, Jonathan Channara Teap (Keira) and Anthony Chandaro Teap (Tomosha). Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews; Tamara, Tiara, Daminik, Danika, Zelda, Yuna, Anthony Jr. and many special friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 8 am until the time of service beginning at 10 am at Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery. Interment will follow the services in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, has been entrusted with the final care of Mrs. Shinault.
