Morton "Granville" Gibson's Obituary
Morton Granville Gibson, 86, of Nashville, TN peacefully left this earth to be with our Lord and Savior on July 28, 2024. The family cordially invites relatives and friends to gather on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from one o’clock in the afternoon until the time of the funeral service at four o’clock in the afternoon at Jackson Park Church of Christ, 4103 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The burial will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at ten o’clock in the morning at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at nine forty-five and process to the grave together.
Granville was born on September 27, 1937 in Nashville TN to James Morton Gibson and Martha Genetta (Allen) Gibson. He attended David Lipscomb College and served his country in the Air National Guard. Granville married the love of his life Cliffordene (Lunn) Gibson in May 1959 and was a faithful, devoted husband to her for 65 years. Together, they raised 2 sons to be good Christian men. While Granville worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service as his professional career, his passion was serving others as a youth minister and deacon at Chapel Avenue Church of Christ, and later as a deacon and elder for 30 years at Jackson Park Church of Christ. He dedicated his life to his family, his church, and to his Christian walk with God. The impact he had on those around him will be felt for generations to come.
Surviving are his loving wife Cliffordene Gibson of Nashville TN, sons Barry Gibson of Nashville TN and Jeff (Jennifer) Gibson of Jacksonville FL, beloved grandchildren Jessica Gibson and Joseph Gibson, and brother Darrell (Jean) Gibson of Tullahoma, TN. Granville was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Gibson.
