Mrs. Myrna "Irene" Stone Stevens' Obituary
On August 14, 2015, Myrna Irene (Stone) Stevens passed away at the graceful age of 96 years young in Nashville, TN.
Irene was born in Nashville, TN on May 15, 1919 to Oscar & Allie Stone. Being the only girl in a family of 10 siblings, she was affectionately known around the neighborhood as “The Stone Brothers’ Sister”. Growing up in Nashville, she had a great love of music that came naturally from her father, a fiddle player with the Grand Ole Opry.
Upon her marriage to Lee B. (Tiny) Stevens, she relocated to Beaverton, Oregon, where she lived as the wife of a Ship’s Master in the Merchant Marines. She was a truly loving wife to her husband Tiny and together they traveled the world. Her firm belief in helping others, led her to volunteering with the Oregon School System and working at the Washington County Tualatin Valley Guidance Clinic.
After the death of her devoted husband on December 4th, 1982, Irene moved from Oregon and spent the last 14 years of her life back in Nashville surrounded by her extended family that loved her dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers (William, Jim, Harry, Gill, Homer, Claude, John, Oscar and Hank.) She is survived by 3 lifelong sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services with be held at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, TN on Friday August 21, 2015. Visitation will be held at 10AM followed by a Graveside Service at 11AM for those who wish to attend. As the pillar of the family she will be sorely missed.
