Ms. Nancy Carolyn Law York Black's Obituary
Nancy Carolyn Law York Black, 82, went to meet her heavenly Father on September 27, 2014 surrounded by her children and sister.
Nancy was born and raised in Nashville, TN where she raised five children until she moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1975. She lived in Louisville for 23 years where she was a loyal employee of Taylor Battery Company and a faithful member of Little Flock Baptist Church. Nancy returned to Nashville in 1998 to help take care of her aging mother and ailing aunt.
Nancy was well known for her tasty country cooking, her loyal support of her Titans and her Commodores and her never-ending patriotism. But more than anything, she had a deep faith in God that revealed itself in her strong love of family and a compassion for all. Her love of life and family was infectious to those around her. She supported her family with faith, prayers and a never-ending love.
Nancy will be greeted in heaven by her parents Kirk E. and Margaret L. Law, a sister, Anne Elizabeth Law, a brother-in-law, Walter “Fibber” McGee and a daughter-in-law, Geri Lynn York.
Her memory will be treasured forever by her sister Barbara McGee and her five children Thomas E. York (Mary Louise), James “Ricky” York (Linda), Leigh Ann Kersey (Phillip), Mary Lynn Ray (Ken) and Karen Paris (George), six step-children Dale Wayne Black, Regen Black, Sherry Hudgeons, Randy Black, Angela Greene and Lillie Black, 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tichy and the nurses at Summit Hospital, Old Hickory Blvd. who treated Nancy and the family with care and compassion.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 2nd at 1:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1st from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and Thursday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to First Baptist Church Hendersonville, 106 Bluegrass Commons Blvd., Hendersonville, TN 37075, or charity of your choice.
