Nancy Lynne Kenney's Obituary
Our beloved, Nancy Lynne Kenney, 75, passed on to her eternal home in the arms of her three children on Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2025, in Nashville, TN after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her 3 children, Jamie Scott Kenney, Kia Lynn Kenney, and Bryan David Kenney (wife Casie Marie Whyde) along with her grandchildren, Georgia James Kenney and River William Kenney. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Amidon Davis and preceded in death by her brother Robert William Amidon and sister Anita Louise Rumery.
Nancy was born on March 16, 1949, to William and Florence Amidon in South Bend, IN. She was the youngest of four children and spent her childhood years in Michigan. In her early 20’s, she moved to Bradenton, FL, where she lived the majority of her life.
Nancy enrolled at the University of Michigan as a piano performance major during which time she also studied abroad in Sweden. She left college to tour the US with multiple bands as a singer, along with Robert Kenney, who she married two years later. She was an accomplished musician, and spent years as a piano and vocal instructor in Bradenton, FL. During this time, she served as the music director for Church of the Cross, directing hundreds of musical productions; leading orchestras, choirs, and packing out auditoriums with the many who came to expect the world class excellence associated with all that she put her hands to. She later, finished her Bachelor of Arts at the University of South Florida and began committing her life to work with multiple disaster relief organizations, including Convoy of Hope; traveling all around the United States to help those in distress. She was an adventurer at heart and at the age of 64, hiked through the mountains of Nepal with the International Fellowship of Chaplains.
Nancy was a warrior, and was known by all, for her determination and strength. She was a consummate leader, motivated by purpose and driven by compassion for the weak and less fortunate. She was a proud and passionate mother and was loved deeply by her children who will miss her tremendously. The imprint she left on her community was immense and her passing leaves a gaping hole in the lives of so many she influenced and loved.
A visitation was held at Spring Hill Funeral home held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 2pm until 4pm.
A celebration of her life took place March 16 at 4:30 pm in the chapel of First Baptist of Bradenton.
