Nancy Ellen Ligon's Obituary
Nancy Ellen Jackson Johnson Ligon was born on March 10, 1937, in Clarksville, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Bonnie Monroe Jackson Zusy and Francis Marion Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby T. Johnson and Gene Ligon, and by her sister, Charlene Clayman.
Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory include her sons, Mark Alan Johnson (Paula) and Barry Johnson (Carolyn); her grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Katie Johnson, Samantha Carney, and Melissa Johnson; and her stepchildren, Gary Ligon (Sharon), Randy Ligon (Megan), Jay Ligon (Julie), and James Ligon (Deana). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Liam Johnson, Zoey Johnson, and Emma Woodford, along with several beloved nieces and nephews, John Clayman, Jr., George Clayman, Greg Clayman, Lori Clayman, and Jennifer Hasenhawk.
Nancy had a deep love for travel and enjoyed experiencing new places, including memorable trips throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. She also had a lifelong appreciation for music.
She retired from BellSouth Corporation in 1991 and devoted her retirement years to her passion for daylily gardening. Nancy was an enthusiastic member of the Middle Tennessee Daylily Society, where she shared both her knowledge and love of gardening with others.
A faithful member of Connell United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville, Nancy remained active in her church community for many years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connell United Methodist Church Music Fund.
