Mrs. Nancye Hamilton Thomas' Obituary
Nancye Hamilton Thomas, age 84, of Mt Juliet, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Nancye was born on June 10, 1934 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Aubrey Hamilton and Martha Arnette Barnes.
Nancye was author of the children’s book “Picky The Marvelous Chicken.” She was a Microbiology professor at Vanderbilt University. She had also taught at Harpeth Hall Academy and Montgomery Bell Academy. Nancye was also a realtor with Century 21. She also worked for the State of Tennessee with the Voices for Children program. Nancye loved gardening and her dogs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Thomas; a son Kelly Thomas; a sister Alice Faye Cockcroft; and an infant daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Bill) Barrow; a brother, Tommy (Debbie) Hamilton; a niece Amanda (Jason) Baker; and a nephew Nicholas Parker.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12 PM noon. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Nancye’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
