Naomi Frances Smithson's Obituary
Naomi Frances Smithson, age 81 of Portland, TN passed away February 19, 2012. Ms. Smithson was born in Nashville, TN on May 9, 1930 to Willie Smith and Sallie Pauline McCormick Jackson. Early in life she had a passion for sports and also won a contest playing the mandolin while her friend sang. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and will be remembered as a terrific mother. She loved reading the bible and attending her church, Immanuel Gospel Fellowship, where she enjoyed working with the Ladies Ministry. She liked working puzzle-books and loved people. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Patricia Ann Smithson Alred and husband of 46 years, Willie James Smithson. She is survived by her sons, Bill and Ricky (Corrine) Smithson; daughters, Kathy Smithson and Sherry (Tim) Midgett; grandchildren, Caleb, Carrie, Salina, Tracy, Ronnie, Cheryl, Sheree, Tim and Amy; and great-grandchildren, Elizbeth, Syanne, Luke, Zack, Lyla, Breanna, Brendan, Patrick, Blake, Josh, Derek, Hayley, David, Baileah, Mallory, Carley, Colton, Alazaya, and Bentley. A celebration of Ms. Smithson’s life will be conducted at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Michael Whobrey officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, February 21 at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
