"What Mom Meant To Me" by Leslie Kurgan
What Mom meant to me. I could write a book. Strength as a single mom raising 6 children. Her work ethic never stopped. She was my idol. As children, we got what we needed. Maybe not everything we wanted but we needed for nothing. She always had a plan on what and where we would be. She never made excuses. Never called out sick. Just kept going.
Walking, or taking a bus when it was available ... providing us with all a mother with three jobs could. She taught us all to have strength and never give up. No matter how tough life got we kept going. There were no excuses.
She was the most unselfish person I ever met. It was always about her kids, grand-children, great grand-children. She wanted no praise, she wanted no thanks, all she wanted was us to be productive, successful, god-fearing young men and women. And today, we want to celebrate her life as her family. Grateful to have her show us these great attributes. To learn what a dollar is worth and drive to accomplish our goals. Because if she set a goal, it got done. No excuses. She loved all of us but she loved people in general. She never wanted anyone to do without... Even if it meant she had to do without personally.
These are a few sad days for us, but happy for Nina, she is in heaven where she deserves to be. Hugging her Momma, Daddy, brother and sisters, daughter, son in law, and great-grand son. No more earthly pain and suffering. Just golden streets and beautiful things everywhere around her. And she deserves that. She was my angel. And today she is sitting beside the loved ones that went before her.
She never wanted this to be about her. It’s supposed to be about love and togetherness. That’s what she always wanted. So, celebrate today that we are together to praise the Love that mom shared to all.
