Norma Jean Eatherly Davis, 90, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, in Nashville. Born September 4, 1929, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Arch H. Bates and Lettie Rogers Bates.
Jean had retired after 40 years of service from American General Life Insurance Company (formerly National Life Insurance Company) where she was a customer service manager. She belonged to the Hendersonville Church of Christ. Described by many who knew her as loving and attentive, she was strong willed and the backbone of the family. Jean enjoyed a good game of cards with her family and friends, especially all forms of canasta.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Eatherly and B.E. Davis; sisters Leona Forehand and Peggy Griffin; half siblings Jake Daniel Bates, Glenn Gossett, Dorothy Morris, and Gladys Vail.
She is survived by her sons Stan (Sherry) Eatherly and Steve (Theresa) Eatherly; grandchildren Shea (Joseph) Eatherly Flynn, Brad (Alicia) Eatherly, Adam Eatherly, Garrett Eatherly, and Clayton Eatherly; great grandchildren Harrison Eatherly and Eva Eatherly.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 15, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, June 16, at 1:30 PM at the funeral home with entombment following in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Eatherly, Clayton Eatherly, Joe Flynn, Wayne Griffin, Mark Giffin, and Norman Griffin. Family will receive friends and visitors one hour prior to the funeral service. Only 50 people will be able to attend the funeral service. Also, 50 people will be permitted in the building at a time for the visitation.
