Oliver Thurman Bobbitt's Obituary
Oliver T. "9-Iron" Bobbitt, age 85 of Ridgetop (Greenbrier, TN) passed away December 19, 2011 after a hard fought battle with cancer and left this world to be with his Lord. He was born October 28, 1926 in Cheatham County, TN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He loved golf, fishing and time with J.R., his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Claude Bobbitt and Harriett Hollis; son, Randall; grandson, Jeffery; brother, J.B.; sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Marie. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Hester; children, Bill (Missy) Bobbitt, Wayne (Debbie) Bobbitt, Gayle (Ray) Taylor and Cindy (Billy) Brown; grandchildren, Cheli, Ray, Jr., Shara, Tommy, Beth, Jenny, Amanda, Ashley and Kristia; 28 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Butch and Neely. A Celebration of Oliver's Life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20 and from 12 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21 at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Memorial contributions should be made to your local Humane Society or to Alive Hospice.
