Ms. Oneeta Judy Dowdy's Obituary
Oneeta ‘Judy’ Dowdy, age 83, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Judy was born on May 8, 1936 in Hermitage Springs, Tennessee to the late Ernest Jackson Lancaster and Ruth Lea Anderson.
Judy was a dog lover and was well known in East Nashville for breeding chihuahuas and papillons. She enjoyed fishing, dancing and attending the Long Hollow Jamboree when she was able to. She was a songwriter and a member of BMI.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Terry Wayne Dowdy; sister Gloria Daniels; and niece Tanya T. Dobson.
She is survived by her sister Gypsy Brooks; nieces Degaye Clifton and Karen Hutchison; nephews Jackson Paul Childers, Steven Childers, and Billy Childers; and her beloved dogs Midnight, Junior and Lady.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 9-10 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A celebration of life funeral service will follow at 10 AM with Pastor Allen Riley officiating. Burial will take place in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
