Mrs. Ophie "Opal" Osment's Obituary
Ophie Osment, 85 of Ashland City, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. She was born April 12, 1936 in Humphreys County, Tennessee to the late Buddy and Elsie Breeden.
Ophie worked for United Technologies for 33 years, retiring at the age of 75 in 2011.
She had been a member of Scottsboro First Baptist Church for 27 years where she and her husband started a fellowship meal ministry on Wednesday nights where they cooked and served meals for over 22 years. She also ministered to hundred of kids and young people throughout the years.
Ophie was heavily involved at the Scottsboro Community Club along with her husband, cooking for the Friday night jamborees and the Annual BBQ alongside Janie Woodard.
She is survived by the love of her life of 67 years George Osment, Sr. and their five children: Linda (Dwane) Baxter, Georgie Osment, Afranda Osment Baker, George (Ronda) Osment, Jr. and Darrell Osment; ten grandchildren, Connie (Lewis) Johnson, Timmy (Alanna) Leeper, Nickey Leeper, Will (Jenny) Osment, Marshall (Erin) Baker 2nd, Savannah Baker, Kyle (Chelsea) Meyer, Gwendolyn Baker, Amber Osment, Scarlett Osment; 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Carlos Breeden, sisters Dell Hughes and Margaret Nagy, and sister-in-law Dorothy Osment, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29 from 4pm-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 30 at 10am, with the family receiving visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery will follow.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Leeper, Nickey Leeper, Kyle Mayer, Wil Osment, Marshall Baker, and Kolton Leeper.
