Orville Albert Heard's Obituary
Mr. Orville “Dude” Albert Heard, age 82 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on May 18, 2023. He was born on May 10, 1941 in Nashville to the late Mary and Orville Heard. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Heather Heard, sister Betty Hooper, grandchildren Isaiah Heard, age 19, and Jasaiah “Sai-Sai” Heard, age 14, cousins Karl Lewis (Peggy), Marilyn Perry, and Debra Malone, and nephew Russell “Chip” Hooper, III.
He was known to some as Orville, to some as Albert, and to others he was simply known as “Dude” - a nickname given to him as a boy by his uncle. Orville grew up in Cheatham County, and all during their growing up years, and even on into adulthood, Orville and his cousin Karl were inseparable. Like two peas in a pod, Karl recalls fond memories of going to races together, riding bicycles from Ashland City to Nashville, hitchhiking up Dickerson Road, and all other manner of shenanigans the two best buds got into. Orville proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, earning the Air Force Good Conduct Medal among others. Orville was genuinely one of a kind, and had a personality and sense of humor that drew people to him. He loved frequenting Jay’s Family Restaurant, sitting in “his” booth, and chatting up the staff and customers there, even if all he was having that day was a Coke. Orville was like none other, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service with Air Force Honors will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11am in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service may meet at Spring Hill Funeral Home in the lobby to join in procession to the grave site.
Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Heard. 5110 Gallatin Pike South, Nashville, Tennessee 37216. (615) 865-1101. “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
