Patricia H. Manning (Tish) passed away peacefully on October 25, 2022. She is survived by five children: Cheri Manning Fite, Camille Manning Moffitt, Carson L Manning, III (Trey) (Kim), Tony Manning and Nicole Manning Giles (Hugh); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; extended family members and many friends.
Tish loved our Lord Jesus with all her heart and was a member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville. She was born at home in the Old Hickory Village on July 27, 1932, to parents, Perc and Lucille Hennessey. She lived in the Village throughout most of her years growing up, graduated from DuPont High School and married her high school sweetheart, Carson L Manning, Jr., who preceded her in death.
She had a beautiful smile and a magnetic personality that caused everyone who met her to love her. She was honest, open and loads of fun, and as her grandchildren say, “God broke the mold when He made Nanny.” She loved antiques and working in her yard, and at one time, grew award-winning, long-stem red roses. She adored Christmas and made the holiday absolutely magical for her family every year.
Tish was a very compassionate woman with a huge heart. Often, when she heard of someone in need, she would find a way to anonymously help them. She loved animals, too, and through her pledged support “adopted” an elephant named Jenny when the Elephant Sanctuary opened in Hohenwald, Tennessee. Throughout her life, she faithfully kept bowls of food and water outside her back door to help any hungry or thirsty animal that came along.
Anyone who knew Tish, knew that she loved music and was most in her element on the dance floor. She exuded a radiant joy every time she danced. Although we will miss her terribly, we rejoice in the knowledge that today she is in her glory – dancing with angels in Heaven.
