Trish, in our early years you and I used to laugh so much when we would go somewhere together, someone would always ask if we were twin sisters! We'd stop, look at each other, and then determine whether we should tell them the truth - that you were my Step-Mom and not my twin sister! Sometimes we'd just let them assume we were twins, other times we'd tell them the truth and they'd ALWAYS look at us so strangely and try to figure it out and that just always cracked us up, didn't it? We'd walk away just laughing!!
Tonight, I'm praising God for your life and the "golden moment" set by Him in the Hobby Lobby parking lot on May 20, 2005 as we sat talking in the car. It was there, just you and me, where God elevated you from being my "twin sister" to being my new Sister in Christ!! That moment has always been one of the greatest moments of my life when you asked me to help you ask Jesus into your heart!
Watching you slowly leave our world over the last 9 months has been so hard. Yet watching YOU tackle this life-altering monumental problem with such courage and grace and dignity and gratefulness to those around you with your constant big, beautiful smile and gentle spirit till the very end is what I will always remember and cherish about you more than anything else! You taught me something I needed to learn.
You alone with Jesus as your Anchor in this storm, your trusted Master Physician, your Heavenly Father, the One you chose to run to with all your hopes and prayers...in my eyes He so lovingly helped you transform day by day over these last 9 months into the most beautiful person God created you to be! Your smile in spite of your pain and worry could not be more heaven-sent. It caught all of us off guard so many times. How in the world could you smile at a time like this...except God!
Your faith has been made evident! You have shed your earthly garments, you have been transformed completely and I can only imagine you now walking down the streets of Heaven, arm in arm with your sweet Momma and Daddy, in your favorite pair of flip flops with your neon pink pedicure, having the time of your life! And for that I can smile too!
Until we meet again...please help us keep an eye on Daddy!
I love you!
Debbie (and George, Georgie, and Connor)
