Mr. Patrick "Kenny" Highers' Obituary
Mr. Patrick “Kenny” Kenneth Highers, age 50 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday January 10, 2023. He was born on September 2, 1972 in Nashville to Patricia “Pat” Morris and the late Jerry Highers. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Murray B. Morris, grandparents Walter and Sara Stowell and Simon and Mary Highers; plus his 3 beloved dogs, Henry, Chili, and Niko. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his aunts Cindy Stowell Richards (Wayne) of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Jackie Highers Freeman of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and cousins Jackie Richards White (Matt) and Chris Richards (Tiffany) of Tullahoma, Tennessee.
At the age of 10, Kenny was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at Vanderbilt and continued a 40 year struggle with complications. In spite of this, it never affected his desire to live life to the fullest. As a child, he became very active in pop Warner football and little league baseball, playing for teams all around south Nashville. Kenny graduated from Glencliff High School in 1990 and briefly attended MTSU in Murfreesboro. His working career went from pizza delivery to construction and tile work with a couple of videos and commercials in between, but the job he loved most started with Rock Solid Security, where he became very well known in the world of music venues. Rock Solid’s motto “polite but firm” was a perfect description of Kenny. At 6”6’, his presence was often enough to control many situations. For 20 plus years, he was the Man at the door of the Exit/In where most of his lasting friendships were formed. His favorite hobby was disc golf with his friends. As a PSL holder, his love for the Titans was a major priority. On the softer side, his mother's memory of him going to see Pavarotti with her is a favorite. To know Kenny was to love Kenny.
A Visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Monday January 16, 2023 from 2pm-4pm with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home at 4pm. A graveside service will be held the following afternoon at 1pm at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
