As a child, I always looked forward to Thanksgiving at my grandmother's (Helen Alsup, Aunt Pat's sister) and grandfather's house because that meant I got to see Uncle Bob, Aunt Pat, Debbie, Patty, and Dianne. As a young girl, I thought Aunt Pat's daughters were the prettiest girls I had ever seen and longed to look like any one of them. Of course, they got their beauty from Aunt Pat! She was such a refined lady who had such a kindness about her--a genuine kindness--and she always had that polished look. She was simply beautiful, inside and out. And, we could always run to Aunt Pat whenever Uncle Bob started "picking" on us kids...and boy, oh boy, did he LOVE instigating something or another! You could tell by that twinkle in his eyes that he was enjoying himself immensely. But, Aunt Pat was always there to "rescue" us from his teasing. After hearing of her love for April Fool's Day pranks with Uncle Bob though, I do believe Aunt Pat was secretly enjoying the teasing as much as Uncle Bob! I don't know about the other kids in our family, but I admit I secretly enjoyed Uncle Bob's attention, even if it was at the expense of being picked on. :-) We saw them only once a year at Thanksgiving, but they gave us a lifetime of memories each and every time we saw them. Thank you, Aunt Pat and Uncle Bob for your love and attention--it meant so much to all of us.
