Peggie Leah Hicks' Obituary
Our beloved Peggie, a caring, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, and Mema, passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2025, in Nashville, TN. Born on November 22nd, 1949, in Red Boiling Springs, TN, Peggie filled our lives with joy, laughter, and endless love.
Peggie was the devoted wife of Frank Hicks and the proud mother of her daughters, Leah Choate and Lesa Melone. She embraced her son-in-law, Rex Choate, as her own. As a doting grandmother to Jaclyn and Annie Lea Choate, and Mia and Aidan Melone, she was affectionately known as Mema. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed a moment to cheer them on at their sporting events and school programs.
Her zest for life was evident in her many passions. Peggie loved traveling to breathtaking places like Hawaii, Glacier National Park, Jackson Hole, WY, and Whitefish, MT, creating cherished memories with her family. An avid sports enthusiast, she was a loyal fan of Tennessee Vols football, the Tennessee Titans, and the Lady Vols softball team. Shopping, especially for shoes, was one of her favorite pastimes, turning each outing into a fun-filled adventure. Dining out at new restaurants and previewing the menus were an endless source of enjoyment.
Known for her resilience, kindness, humility, optimism, and generosity, Peggie touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her warm hugs and radiant smile could light up any room. She taught us the importance of love, compassion, and the joy of family.
Those who have passed on before her are her parents, Elton “Pete” Hollars and Mary Hollars, aunts, Edith Duke and Ruby Neal Keith.
In honor of Peggie's giving spirit, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a cause close to her heart.
