Ms. Peggy Joyce Griffin's Obituary
Peggy Joyce Bates Griffin, age 87, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019. Peggy was born on June 27, 1932 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Arch Hugh Bates and Lettie Rodgers Bates.
Peggy had been a kindergarten teacher at the Hendersonville Church of Christ for over 30 years and later went on to become a substitute teacher. She was a wonderful cook and loved to feed family and friends. She and her sister had been caterers in the area, known for making wedding cakes. She also loved fishing and traveling with her late husband.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Franklin “Frank” Griffin.
She is survived by her sons Wayne Griffin, Mark (Andrea) Griffin, and Norman (Sandie) Griffin; granddaughter Crystal (Daric) Carby; sister Jean Davis; and sister-in-law Janie McClure.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 4-8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, July 18, starting at 12 PM with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
