Ms. Peggy Joy Pruitt's Obituary
Peggy Joy Pruitt, 83, of Madison, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Peggy was born November 25, 1936 in Old Hickory, Tennessee to the late Robert Earl Pruitt and Mattie Viola Dunn Pruitt.
She graduated from McEwen High School in McEwen, Tennessee and later went on to attend the Watkins Institute. She worked for Genesco for 30 years, First American Bank for 5 years, AAA, the Tennessean Newspaper and Spring Hill Cemetery. Peggy loved her friends and family dearly, she helped raise her sister Glenda as well as some nieces and nephews. She was baptized in August of 1948 with her sister, Iris, in the Piney River in Pine Wood, Tennessee. She attended Pine Wood Church of Christ, Bold Springs Church of Christ, Eastland Church of Christ and Shelby Avenue Church of Christ. Friday night singings were something Peggy always looked forward to, especially at the Eleventh St. Church of Christ on Shelby Avenue. While in Creekside Health and Rehab, she loved for people to sing Christian music. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, was an avid reader and wrote poetry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Dunn Pruitt; nephew Bobby T. Bumbalough, Jr; brother-in-law Bobby T. Bumbalough, Sr; all of her aunts and uncles and some cousins.
She is survived by sisters Glenda P. Hunter and Iris Bumbalough; nieces Barbara (Barry) Bumbalough-Morris and Betty J Ware; nephew and caregiver Kirk Daniel Hunter; great niece Katelyn Boyle; great nephew Paul Thomas Cupido; great great niece Savannah Cupido.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 2 PM Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the funeral home with Brother Mike Tidwell officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery’s Meadow Ridge garden.
