Mr Phillip Todd Brasher Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Phillip “Phil” Todd Brasher, Sr., age 59 of Fairview, TN, graduated from this life to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 13, 2021 after brief and courageous battle with Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease (CJD). The sudden and cruel nature of this rare disease robbed Phil of his body but the security of his eternal life brings comfort to his family and the friends who love him dearly.
Phil was never a preacher but loved many people into a relationship with Jesus as he was eager to share his faith with others. He was a lover of God’s Word and God’s people. He gained much joy from time spent in Bible study groups and his church family at Woodmont Hills Church of Christ.
Phil walked out his faith through his dedication and commitment to his family. He was honored when Jamie (Woodson) Brasher said yes to his proposal to build a family with him. With great hope for the future, they were married on July 30, 1988. They established God as the center of their marriage and navigated the ups and downs of life as an adventure joined together by faith, mutual respect and a great deal of laughter. Their home was a place a safety and support for the three children who blessed their lives, as well as their many friends. Phil saw his role of husband, father and father-in-law as his greatest success in life.
Phil loved life and lived his to the fullest. His mechanical skills led him to an interest in cars and boating. He loved travel. He and Jamie were blessed to create incredible family vacation memories as well as their empty nest trips abroad. Phil’s energy was contagious as he enjoyed time with friends on the golf course.
A “Lipscomb-Lifer,” Phil graduated from David Lipscomb High School and College, now Lipscomb University. While he received an academic education on those campuses, more importantly to Phil, he formed life-long friendships.
In a world of chaos and negativity, Phil chose to look for the best in people. He was kind. His genuine interest in individuals paved the way for great conversations and putting others at ease. He asked questions and made whoever he was talking to at the moment the focus of his attention. He remembered details and connected people. These skills and his dynamic personality were key factors in his career in industrial sales. He was a diligent team member as a regional sales representative with Southworth Products.
A Nashville native, Phil was born March 7, 1962 to proud parents Michael and Phyllis Brasher. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Gene Brasher, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Jamie and their children Phillip Brasher, Jr. (Nicole), Anna Greene (Austin) and Savannah Brasher. He is also survived by his mother, Phyllis and siblings, Michael Brasher, Jr. (Donna), Vicky Brasher Gallagher(Gerry) and Mary Brasher Flatt (Jeff). Phil also leaves behind nieces and a nephew he adored and a host of devoted friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Woodmont Hills Church 3710 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN. A visitation time with the family will precede the service at 11:00 a.m.
