Phillip "Daniel" Hooberry's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Phillip Daniel Hooberry
December 17th, 1957 - February 5th, 2026
We celebrate the beautiful life of Phillip Daniel “Daniel” Hooberry, a man who never stopped adding new chapters to his own story. Born in Nashville, TN, Daniel’s journey was lively, varied, and always welcoming.
Daniel worked as an electrician which sharpened his technical skills. His love of good food led him to culinary school, where he went on to manage a restaurant and a catering company. Ever imaginative, he transformed an old trolley bus into an Edwardian cigar lounge, started studying teas with hopes of opening a tearoom, and even wrote books fueled by his fascination with Jack the Ripper. After searching for a book about Jack the Ripper and not being able to find one, he went on to write his own, “Knife’s Tell”. It was about what Jack the Ripper may have been like before the famous murders. It also contains recipes of everything the book mentions he eats in the book. He then went on the write a book of short stories from the victim’s side called “Victim’s Tell”. He was researching a follow-up to “Knife’s Tell”. Another book he wrote, the history and recipes of Catsup, “Victorian Catsup”. He was actively writing a children’s book about a bunny with paint brush paws. He greatly enjoyed meeting new people along the way and was one of his favorite rewards.
Away from work, Daniel found joy in nature, especially while hiking with his best dog friend, Casanova “Caz.” Those walks became treasured memories.
Daniel’s family was central to his happiness. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sarah Hooberry. He is reunited in peace with his parents, William “Bubby” Hooberry and Dolly Hooberry and his brother, Bill Hooberry.
Today we remember Daniel’s energy, creativity, and warm welcome that lifted every room he entered. May each memory of him inspire us to keep exploring, keep learning, and keep greeting every new friend with the same open heart he showed every day.
