Ralph C. Mobley, D.V.M.'s Obituary
Dr. Mobley was originally from Live Oak, Florida where he joined the Marines during World War II. He fought in the Pacific and during the assault on Okinawa. After the war, he attended Auburn University and The University of Georgia where he received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he moved to Chattanooga where he met his wife of 49 years, Katherine Quinn. In 1952 they moved to Nashville and Dr. Mobley opened a veterinary clinic in East Nashville and later moved it to Inglewood at its present location where he practiced until 1985. Dr. Mobley assisted numerous students of veterinary medicine and was on the State Board of Veterinary Examiners. He was instrumental in establishing the annual rabies vaccination clinics in Davidson County. He was a member of the Freemasons and the Madison Kiwanis. Preceded in death by his wife, parents Summerfield and Eddie Mobley, brothers Joeseph and Cliff. He is survived by a brother, Winston of Tulsa, Oklahoma and by his son and daughter in-law Summerfield and Mary (Sherron) and daughter and son in-law Cynthia and Jim LaMarr. Dr. Mobley had four grandchildren: Mathew LaMarr, James LaMarr, Grace McCoy, and Morgan Mobley. He had one great-grandchild: Steven Cade LaMarr. Visitation will be held today from 4-7PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with Jere-Baxter Lodge #254 attending and from Noon until 3PM on Monday. A memorial service will be held at 3PM where military honors will be presented. Pastor Ray Newell to officiate.
