Mr. Randall Lee Phillips' Obituary
Randall Lee Phillips passed away on June 9, 2016, at his family home where he resided with his wife and family for twenty-eight years. He was born on July 28, 1950, to the late Randall and Louise Phillips in Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Shelley Flynn Phillips on May 30, 2016. Randy is survived by his large and loving family. He leaves five children; Andrea Baird, Spencer Phillips, Lana [Jason] Hattermann, Allison [Matt] Moore, Jessica Phillips, and five grandchildren; Sydney, Evangeline, Caitlin, Ledger and Olivia. His siblings include Eddie [Janice] Phillips, Kathy Meadows, brothers and sisters in law: Sandra [Duke] Jensen, Susanne [Paul] Walker, Johnny [Janna] Flynn, Sally [Clay] Hart, Michael [Debbie] Flynn, Charles [Jill] Flynn, Timothy [Tracy] Flynn, as well as twenty-five nieces and nephews along with their children. Gina [Brandon] Webb a close family friend and another daughter to him. And a host of close friends he considered family.
Randy graduated from Goodlettsville High School in 1968. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where his love for the Vols began! He was affiliated with the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he made lasting friendships. After graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, he joined the family business for fifteen years in home building alongside his father and brother. His building career is what led him to meet his wife at a home building convention in 1983. After the sale of Phillips Builders in 1987, Randy began his own Property Management Company, Volunteer Properties.
He lived a life showing compassion and generosity to all he came across. He will be sincerely missed, but his heart belonged with his wife. His family is comforted in knowing he has followed her into the Light. They are together, as it is meant to be.
All are invited to a Celebration of Life for Randy and Shelley Phillips. It will be held on Wednesday, June 15, at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Nashville, TN 37205, entering through the Visitors Services Building. There will be friends and family visitation from 2:00 till 5:00, with the ceremony immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, Randy and Shelley would appreciate any inspired donations to go to their church, The Center for Spiritual Living Nashville, 6705 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209, or in Randy Phillips’ words “Go out and do some Good Work in their honor.”
