Ray Ferguson's Obituary
Ray (Fergy) Ferguson, age 89. Born and raised in Camden Tennessee. Survived by his loving wife Sandra Ferguson of 44 years, his children Dave (Darlene) Ferguson, Bob Ferguson, Donnie O’Saile, and Darrell (Mary) O’Saile. Grandchildren David, Dawn, Stephanie, Daniel, Eric, Kevin, Tiffany, Ryan, Christian and Alaura. Along with several Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sons Greg Ferguson and David O’Saile. As well as his grandchildren, Lauren O’Saile and Angela Ferguson.
Ray was a proud veteran of the Army having served in the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals. He was a retired communications technical engineer with AT&T. Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church Hendersonville and a member of Fred Bracy’s Sunday School Class for 25 years. Ray enjoyed morning work outs in his finest cowboy boots at the First Baptist Church – Family Ministry Center. Followed by fellowship with the ROMEO club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) at the local McDonald’s.
Ray’s biggest accomplishment was enjoying his time with his lovely bride, Sandra. This included antiquing, gardening, ministry and watching Football…Go Titans! His grandchildren will fondly miss his hosting of the annual “Hands in the Money Jar” game where he would save his change for the year. Each would line up youngest to oldest. It was cash and carry of change as much as one can hold in their hand. They will dearly miss his hearty handshake also known as “pumping your paw.”
Ray never met a stranger. He had a quick whit and the gift of gab leading him into some very interesting and passionate conversations. His kindness was truly selfless from volunteering at his church to helping his neighbors. Who in turn will miss his waves and greetings for all those who passed by.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday, January 6th, 10 am – 11 am located at Spring Hill Funeral Home – Gallatin Road. A private graveside service will be held for the family immediately following.
