Rebecca "Becky" Long Bledsoe's Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Long Bledsoe passed away December 7, 2022 after a 3-year battle with a rare neurodegenerative disease, corticobasal degeneration. Despite the daily challenges and debilitating nature of her diagnosis, she held steadfast to her faith in the Lord and lived out His purpose in her life.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the graveside service at 11:00 am , all held at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville Tennessee.
Becky is survived by her daughters Leslie Davis (Lawrence Schwimmer) of San Francisco, CA, Virginia Koepsell (Max) of Flower Mound, TX and daughter-in-law, Tricia Bledsoe of Splendora, TX. She was a proud grandparent to 7 grandchildren: Bradley Davis (Olya), Rebekah Davis (Jaimin Garabedian) , Carson Bledsoe, Katrina Bledsoe, Hannah Bledsoe, Charlee Koepsell and Maci Koepsell, and 6 great-grandchildren: Ellie, Jaxon, Brooklyn, Alexander, Maxim and Davis.
Becky was born on July 26, 1938 in Bolivar, Tennessee to Ovid and Irma Long. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. It was at the university, on a blind date, that she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Bledsoe and the two of them lived a fruitful life in both ministry and family. Bob preceded Becky in death by only 68 days, marking the end to their 62 year union.
Becky enjoyed worshiping and singing and her home was always filled with praise music. She loved gardening, as was evident by her beautiful backyard. She was known by all for her ‘warm’ home and gift of hospitality. Many people were recipients of her natural gift of encouragement. She imparted unconditional love and instilled confidence in people that needed someone to point out the undeserved favor and grace of God.
Becky was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Julia L. Cherry of Nashville, TN. and sons Robert Bledsoe Jr. and Anthony Bledsoe.
The family would like to especially thank Becky’s caregivers and physical and occupational therapists for the compassionate care they provided in the last 3 years of her life. Their constant support allowed our family to find joy in this challenging journey, and their dedication allowed Becky to live her final years with dignity and grace.
