Mrs. Rebecca Clark Boykins' Obituary
Rebecca Boykins died peacefully and went to her heavenly home on January 14, 2015 with a long illness in Hendersonville, Tennessee at the age of 94. Her devotions to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Rebecca Clark was born to the late Richard and Bluma Clark in South Hampton County, Virginia on July 21, 1920 she was the third child out of seven. She was immersed in the Christian community that would her lifelong support from an early age. As an adult she worked as a house keeper.
Rebecca was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Samuel Boykins, Sr on December 24, 1936 in Courtland, Virginia. Rebecca helped raised two children Samuel Jr and Eula Boykins with patience, discipline, and humility. She taught them to read and write and how to survive in life. From the very beginning, she dedicated to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels.
Rebecca was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact the she is at peace with her creator. Rebecca is survived by her son Samuel (Edna) Boykins Jr, and daughter Eula (Charlie) Lewter, one brother William Clark and one sister Ester Faulkin. 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren also survive. She is preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth, Luvinia, Easter, Maxine, Gevena, and her grandson Ronald Boykins.
Her family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 18 at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Her Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday, January 19 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will be in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
