Ms. Rebecca Waddey's Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Denise Ackerman Waddey, 60, of Hermitage, Tennessee died on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the home of her sister Judy Ackerman (Mark) Cox of Shelbyville, Tennessee after a long illness.
Becky was born on January 10, 1959 in Hazard, Kentucky to the parents of Mary Blanche Walters and John Carlton Ackerman. Rebecca, called Becky by her family and friends, grew up in Madison, Tennessee and attended the elementary school, academy and the church of the Seventh Day Adventist community.
In addition to her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Douglas Waddey of Hermitage, TN, her sister, Carolyn Ackerman Bell, and her brother, Gary Carlton Ackerman of Madison, Tennessee.
Survivors include her sister Judy (Mark) Cox and nephew Mark David Cox of Shelbyville, Tennessee, her daughter Wendy (Landis) Davidson and three grandsons Anthony, Samuel and Gary Davidson of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and cousins Deborah Faye Ackerman (Jessie) Johnson of Hendersonville, and Michael W. Ackerman of St. Petersburg, Florida, and other close family relatives in Mississippi and Kansas.
Becky proudly served her country in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service with the State of Tennessee Department of Corrections, Nashville, Tennessee. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed a simple life dedicated to caring for her husband who was a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran who succumbed to the ravages of Agent Orange. In lieu of memorial flowers or gifts Becky respectfully requests any memorial donations to be given in his honor (Russell D. Waddey) to the Wounded Warrior Project or to one of her other favorite charities with the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Children’s Operation Smile.
Memorial service arrangements will be held at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, Tennessee (5110 Gallatin Pike South, Nashville, Tennessee) and will be held Saturday, April 6 at 2:00pm in the Music City Mausoleum.
