Mr. Richard Perry Canaday's Obituary
After a short fight with cancer, Richard Perry Canaday, age 80, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry Canaday and Margaret Rathburn; step-parents,Big Louie Rathburn and Wilma D. Canaday one sister, Patsy Parks; companion of 20 + years, Sally Sykes. He is survived by his two daughters, Maria Canaday, Ruthie Canaday Few; two sons, Joey Canaday (Tammy), John F. Canaday; one sister, Eva Phillips (Bobby); one brother, Louie Rathburn (Maryann); three grandchildren, Jennifer Shearon (Nate), Betty Canaday Williams (Chad), David Batts; six great grandchildren, Gabriel, Gavin, Jonathan, Jayli, Jackson, Jericho; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Richard loved family get togethers and spending time with them. Richard proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Geiger Air Force Base in Spokane, WA. After serving his country he returned to Nashville and worked for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, Goodwill Industries and Hardaway Construction. He was also very involved in politics. Richard enjoyed fishing, flea markets, westerns, music, tinkering and fixing things and was considered a good southern cook. He was a very generous man and loved to share what he had with others. Richards wish was to be cremated with no formal services. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
