Mr. Richard Johnston's Obituary
Richard “Ricky” White Johnston April 23, 1965-April 26, 2016
On the morning of April 26th, 2016, Richard fell to his death at age 51 while performing a routine inspection of a building at the St Paul Senior Living Community where he has worked as an administrator for the past 20 years. Prior to working for St Paul, Richard managed the once famous 101st Bomb Squad restaurant in Nashville.
Richard was born in Memphis on April 23, 1965, to the late Robert Johnston, Sr. and Barbara Johnston. He relocated to Nashville in the late 80’s. He is also preceded in death by his cherished dog, Allie. He is survived by his two brothers that will miss him deeply: Robert Johnston, Jr. and Ronald Johnston. He is also survived by his two nieces that he adored: JoAnna Johnston and CeCe Johnston and by his latest canine companion that was always by his side, Ms. Gracie.
Richard put the care in caring, the support in supporting and the give in giving. He will be sorely missed by the residents of the St Paul community who felt Richard was an extension of their own families. He dedicated his career to helping others and his community working countless weekends and holidays- ensuring the care of those entrusted to him.
Richard embraced daily existence to the fullest, enjoyed his family and travel. Richard’s raison d’etre was his endless love and hopes for his two nieces mentioned above. His spirit will live on and flourish in their hearts.
This was certainly a sudden and tragic loss for us and so many. We appreciate all the support that has been given.
Funeral service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Sunday, May 1st at two o’clock in the afternoon with visitation preceding the service starting at noon. A private family service will be held at a future date in Bald Knob, Arkansas. There will also be a special memorial at St Paul’s on April 30th at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
