Mr. Richard P King's Obituary
Richard “Dickie” P. King, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on July 13, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Benjamin and Kathryne (Hallums) King.
He was a renowned architect RPK, who’s many visionary designs enabled him to leave his mark on landscape designs in Nashville. He was an active member of the Board of Zoning Appeals. He was one of the original developers of the Berm Effect at the Springfield, TN Electric Company. Some of the buildings that he was the architect on was several sound studios in Nashville, such as – Martina McBride, Jack White, House of Blues, 3rd and Lindsley, etc. His architecture can also be seen on several malls in the area such as, Rivergate, Hickory Hollow, Cool Springs, etc. He also was the architect for the Vanderbilt School of Engineering.
He was the past commander and member of the American Legion post 82. He was also the original founder for the name of the Tennessee Titans. Dick is also known for his love of the Tennessee Titans and the amazing tailgate parties before each game. He will be missed dearly and was larger than life.
Dickie is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Brownie Sandra King; children, Melissa Morris, Karen King and Richard P. King, Jr.; grandchildren, Daniel and wife, Carrie and Devin and Stevie Keller; great-grandchildren, Caylie, Emma, Jackson, Noah, Colton, Rykker and Braelin; sisters, Barbara Fuqua and Susan Davenport; nephew, Michael and wife, Veronica Davenport along with their children, Colton, Alex and Abby. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with an additional visitation held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 12 pm – 2 pm until the time of service beginning at 2 pm at 3rd and Lindsley, 818 3rd Avenue South, Nashville, TN.
