Richard James Moores' Obituary
Richard Moores, 78, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed into eternity on June 7, 2024. He was born December 27, 1945, in Old Hickory, Tennessee to the late Samuel Baxter Moores and Thelma Tubbs Moores. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Michael (Mickey) Moores.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Moores; sister Becky (Wesley) Parker; sons, Charles Moores and Dakota Moores; daughters, Jennifer Moores and Natalie (Christopher) Ginn; grandchildren, Destiny (Sean Green) Ginn, Kelsi Moores, Kayla Moores, Chris Ginn, Tristan Moores, Eli Moores, Skylar Ginn; great-grandchildren, Grace Green, Kayleigh Green, Paislee Jones, Weston Ginn, Maverick Green.
Throughout Richard’s adult years, he was a lead salesman at Summers Motor Company, owned a heating and air company, was a partner in IJS Corporation, hauled cars, had a car hauling company with six trucks and trailers and employing six drivers, along with working at Nashville Auto Auction and ABC Auction. He spent the most years working at Nashville Auto Auction and at ABC Auction. During his years at these automotive auctions, he developed so many relationships with dealers, car haulers, and co-workers, many that have lasted through these years.
Richard was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and always tuned in to the races each week during racing season. He and a partner once owned Highland Rim Speedway, and they were the ones who changed it from a dirt track to a paved track. He had many opportunities over the years, along with his son, Charles, to help on pit crews at large races, and he loved the energy and exhilaration of being in the pits.
He and his wife bought a horse ranch and ran Somersby Equestrian Center, a horse boarding, training and teaching facility. During these years, he worked his day job and helped on the ranch at night and on the weekends. He loved the horses, especially the year there were several foals born; and he loved interacting with the boarders and all the students. However, his favorite thing during these years was watching his daughter, Natalie, train and show horses. He was a very proud Dad standing at the rail watching her.
Richard Moores loved God. and he loved his wife, in that order. Then he loved his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Family was his drive and motivation throughout his life. Yet his ultimate motivation was to serve God and to point others to Him. Richard Moores’ life was a life well lived and a wonderful example for his family to follow.
The family invites friends and relatives to join them for a time of remembrance on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at Long Hollow Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held from 10:00 in the morning until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 in the afternoon. All are welcome.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
