Mr. Richard Odom's Obituary
Richard A. Odom, age 85, slipped quietly into eternity on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is now living in the promise of eternal life given to him by placing his faith in Jesus Christ. He is enjoying all that heaven has in store for him and we rejoice in his homegoing.
Richard was proud to say that he was an alumnus from Isaac Litton School and served his country in the United States Navy. Richard and his brother, Doug were the co-owners of the Tennessee Pride Sausage Company and worked together for over fifty years. He was a community minded gentleman and served on various boards and had memberships in various organizations throughout his life. He enjoyed golfing, duck hunting, fishing and he received great enjoyment when he was able to “pick at people” to bring joy into their lives. He was a member and trustee at the City Road United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Louise (Smith) Odom, son, Charles Alan Odom, brother-in-law, Larry England and sister-in-law, Robbie Odom.
Richard is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Betty (Cherry) Odom; daughters, Jennifer Ash and Ronica Chichelo; son, Blake Chancey; brother, Doug Odom; sisters, June England and Judy Wilkerson (Ralph); grandchildren, Alan Odom, Marilyn Odom, Zack Chichelo, Zoe Chichelo and Bella Chancey. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2 pm-6 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home with an additional visitation held on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers will be, David Johnson, Mark Johnson, John Lee, Blake Chancey, Keith England and Jason Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Younger and members of the weekly card club.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the ladies that offered great care to Richard.
