I just saw where Mr Binkley passed away. I was (I believe) in his very first homeroom class which was my 5th grade year at Dan Mills in 1976-1977. He was by far the best teacher I ever had and he made going to school so much fun! He was 24 years old then and I will never forget him! My brother Ferman had him as a homeroom teacher the very next year. Rest in heaven Mr. Binkley. Our loss is heaven’s gain. In this pic I’m on the top row, 3rd person from the left.💜
Precious Debbie and family, I just learned of Rick's passing and it grieves my heart. So many precious memories of times together at Riverwood. Grateful to know where he is now, and that one glorious day we'll all meet again.

Wow, I was just at Amqui Elementary School on Yesterday, volunteering. And the school
staff informed me of Mr. Binkley’s passing. I had no idea. He was the principal at the Amqui School from. 1993-2000. When I worked there. We would talk about school and religion in general. He was the person that hired me on the spot. And he said that he believed in me! Which I will always remember. I have never been told that before in
my life. Although we had our differences in opinions. We always came to a good understanding, at the end of the day. He was always a good principal and a good leader in the Church. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, Church family and friends.

Rick was a part of my life for 50 years where he served as teacher, principal, and friend. I was his principal at Dan Mills and Neely's Bend until he became principal at Alex Green. When I moved on to Central Office as Director of Elementary Schools, it was my pleasure to visit Rick monthly at whatever school he was serving as principal and there were many as he moved from smaller to larger schools. He served at the largest Elementary School in our state--Lakeview with 2 buildings. He was loved by those who worked with him. Rick and I traveled together during our time at Metropolitan Public schools, going to principal conferences all over our United States. His faculties became his family and he was considered one of the best principals to work for. He mentored many teachers who went on to become principals. He performed their weddings and counseled with them in times of trouble. He was a treasured friend to all who knew him. I had told him that I wanted him to preach my funeral. He will be missed by all who knew him! Michael Jordan
Rick was my minister, mentor, traveling buddy, and friend. He baptized me. He inspired me to become an educator. He was one of the “Wise Men,” a title bestowed upon us in Dallas. I will never forget a young girl in Dallas thinking he was Santa. He made sure to hear her Christmas wish while eating breakfast. My children will grow up with a better father because of his influence on my life. I miss you, fellow Wise Man.
What can I say about Ricky Wayne. He was a true friend , brother, and wise man. I first became acquainted with Rick when he was one of the ‘cool kids’ in high school. As we grew older Rick began to travel with me and my son , Jonathan, on history trips. We enjoyed 10 years of annual trips. During these trips Jonathan and Rick would discuss education. These trips were more marathon adventures, than a leisurely journey. We were all working and tried to squeeze as much as we could into a short weekend. We could always count on Rick correcting the tour guides at Abraham Lincoln’s tomb. We were asked once to move to the head of the line once at Lincoln’s home in Springfield because Rick had crossed the forbidden line in order to touch something that belonged to Lincoln. It was in Dallas that we encountered a homeless man that named us the wise men and we wore it proudly. We made many trips and untold side adventures throughout the years. Rick’s humor was something to behold and enjoy. He loved his family, we were forced to listen to Daniel’s music on one trip. I we miss Rick greatly,
This is the beautiful smile I will always remember, and I hope I will always be able to remember the sound of his laugh! There is no doubt God sent me to interview with him in 1991. After interviewing, I knew I wanted to work for him and be at Amqui, no matter what position he offered. He changed my life, and always pushed me to become a better version of myself. He walked with me through the best and worst times of my life, providing unconditional love, encouragement, direction, and words of wisdom. He was my first phone call when I didn't know what to do, and I could trust that he would provide the guidance I needed. He always spoke the truth in love. He was incredibly humble, compassionate, and a godly man who impacted countless lives. I loved him dearly and he will forever be my "Papa Bear," and I will always consider being one of "Rick's Girls" as one of my life's greatest blessings.
Rick was my Sunday School teacher. From the moment I walked into his class, I felt his warmth and very welcoming smile . I just adored him. He was so fatherly, even though he was only a bit older than me. I could talk to him about anything. I loved to tease him and he would always smile. The world has lost a great man, but I am sure heaven rejoiced and welcomed him home. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. What a true, humble, honest and devoted man of God. I will always think of my friend and all the time we spent together on the football field. I had the unique joy of helping Rick when he was beginning to work on his pastoral duties, I would accompany him along with Terry Bumpus and travel to northern counties in middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Rick was always a man of integrity, grace and a joy to be around. God has brought a true saint home! He is waiting for the rest of us!
