Rita Frances Stinson's Obituary
Rita Sweeney Stinson, 84, passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, Thursday, July 24th in the comfort of her own home with her furry companion, Muffin, and loving partner, Linda Mitchell by her side.
A resident of Nashville, Rita was born October 14, 1940, to the late Clyde & Frances Sweeney.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Frances Sweeney and brother Donald Sweeney.
A graduate of Isaac Litton High School, Class of 1958, Rita continued her education at Volunteer State Community College. Rita was a loan originator for many years. She worked at several mortgage companies including Dobson & Johnson, Commerce Union, Sovran Bank and Bank of America where she retired a Vice President in 2003.
Rita was a member of Pennington Fellowship Church. She was an avid golfer and belonged to McCabe & Harpeth Hills Women’s Golf Leagues. She enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams: Vanderbilt, Indiana Fever & Tennessee Titans. She loved animals and the beach and the outdoors.
Rita is survived by her partner of 30 years Linda Mitchell, her first cousin Doris Ann McNamee who was more like a sister, her sister-in-law Beverly Sweeney, her niece Terri Lane (Greg) & nephew Steve Sweeney (Laurie), great nieces Rachael Lane, Erika Sweeney & Stormy Price & great nephew Blake Sweeney. Per Rita’s wishes she will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held privately with family.
