Robert B. Evans' Obituary
Robert B. Evans "Bob"; age 83, passed away on September 14, 2010. He was born on December 21st, 1926 and was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ophelia Hooper, and daughter, Elaine Marie. He is survived by his wife of (59) years, Evelyn, his son, Clyde W. Evans; his step-mother, Jessie Hooper; half-sisters, Judy Pirtle (Aaron) and Betty Gray (Bobby); grandson, Wayne Evans; granddaughter, Gina Gilly (James); great-grandsons, Jimmy Gilly (Michelle) & Dalen Evans; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Holder (Chris) and several great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends are Debra and Kent Adair and George and Virginia Aust. Mr. Evans was a member of Northside Church of Christ (formerly Lichey Avenue). Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Marine Corps in occupied China during WWII. He retired from the Ford Glass Plant and was a member of the UAW. He loved to travel and was an active sportsman throughout his life. His family would like to thank members of the staff at Vanco Manor Nursing Home for their excellent and loving care. (Military) Funeral Services will be conducted at the Spring Hill Funeral Home on Friday September 17, 2010 at 2PM with Leslie Chapman and Stan Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-8PM and ON Friday from 11-2. Active pallbearers will be George Aust, Fred Tucker, Charlie Hooks, Bud Farmer (Wayne Evans and James Gilly). Included in the Honor Guard will be great-grandson, Dalen Evans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Golden Age Scholarship Fund at Northside Church of Christ.
