Mr. Robert D. Birdwell's Obituary
Robert Dwain Birdwell, age 88, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 after a short illness. Robert was born on December 11, 1931 the son of Leonard and Annie (Miller) Birdwell both of whom preceded him in death.
Robert was an excellent musician; he played the steel guitar since he was a young man. He was very proud to have been able to play at the Grand Ole Opry many times. Throughout the years he played at many different venues throughout Nashville, he even played at different nursing homes as entertainment for the residents. Robert also played at Miss Robbie’s Barn before they closed. He was a member of the Cowboy Church here in Nashville for several years as well. Robert was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Atlanta Braves.
Robert is survived by his wife of 24 years Jean Birdwell, his daughters Cindy Huskey, Carol Roberts, stepson Kevin Teasley (Annette) and stepdaughter Lora Klein (Tom).
There will be a private family visitation. Robert’s Graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the historic Spring Hill Cemetery at 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
