Mr. Robert "Bob" Marvin Durham's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Marvin Durham, 86, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his sons, Robert Charles Durham and James Roy Durham, his daughter, Patti Marie Durham, his parents, Marvin and Eva Durham, and his sister, Shawana.
Those left behind to cherish Bob’s memory include his special friend of fifteen years, Esperanza Shutts; granddaughters, Abigail and MacKenzie Durham; and his nephew, Kevin Carlisle.
Bob honorably served his country and eventually retired from the Air Force as a Technical Sergeant. He also served with the National Guard. Beyond his military service, he was a respected teacher and baseball coach at Stratford High School in Nashville, Tennessee, in addition to teaching courses in diesel mechanics. His diverse career also included work as an aid assisting the handicapped with HATS, a technician for Cooks Pest Control, and a delivery driver for Dr. Pepper.
Bob’s passions extended beyond his professional life. He enjoyed music and was adept at both singing and playing guitar. His love of music was seconded only by his love of dancing. Additionally, he had a deep fondness for his feline companion of 14 years, named Runt.
Bob’s legacy will be remembered by those whose lives he touched through his service, teaching, and love for music and dance.
The family cordially invites you to attend the visitation Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 10 o'clock in the morning until 12 o'clock in the afternoon. The service will follow immediately at 12 o'clock in the Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
