Robert Daniel Beam's Obituary
Robert Daniel "Dan" BeamDan Beam, age 55, went home to his Savior on Monday, August 30, 2010, while walking his buddy "Maverick". He was born November 9, 1955, in Pensecola, Florida, and is survived by his wife of 33 years, Phyllis (Carter); his mother, Mary Ellen Beam; sister, Sharon Smith; and numerous relatives who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Solomon Daniel Beam. Dan attended Olivet Nazarene University and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1978 with a double major in business administration and psychology. He also graduated from the Banking School of the South. He loved and played the sport of basketball. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with family members and friends. He began his 32-year banking career with Barnett Bank in Pensacola, Florida. He then held positions at South Trust Bank in Columbus, Georgia, and Wachovia Bank and Fifth Third Bank in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time of his death, he was employed by The Sourcing Department of Brentwood, Tennessee. Dan was a man of God and as such was involved in numerous church ministries and civic organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Urban League, United Way, Rotary, and many others. Dan will be forever remembered as a true friend, a devoted husband, and an incredible example of Christian living. If the true mark of a man is measured in how much he was loved, then Dan Beam was a very rich man. Viewing will be at the Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, at 510 Woodland Street, where he was a member, on Friday, September 3, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM; the funeral service will follow at 2 PM at the church with Dr. Gary Allen Henecke officating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Trevecca Nazarene University Athletic Department, Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County, or The United Way of Rutherford County.
