Robert Hines Chandler's Obituary
CHANDLER, Robert Hines "Bob" passed away May 27, 2011 after a courageous battle with myelofibrosis. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Piper Chandler of Chattanooga, sisters Nancy Chandler Small of Nashville and Gayle Church of Paducah, KY. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren whom he adored, three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Virginia Weaver Chandler and his brothers, Tommy Chandler and Harmon Chandler and son Steven Smiley. Bob was born in Livingston County, KY and attended Murray State University. He was a contractor, building hotels in Nashville, Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, AL, and condominiums in Florida and Alabama. He was also owner of the East Ridge Retirement Center in Chattanooga. In his earlier years, he worked in the hotel industry. He and his wife resided in Chattanooga, and owned homes in Highlands, NC and Orange Beach, AL, where they loved to vacation and spend time with friends. Bob enjoyed collecting antiques, especially porcelain, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He was loved by many, and his infectious laugh will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday May 31, 2011 at 11AM at the Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will serve as Active Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart Association. Interment will follow in historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
