Bob loved working outside, especially in his yard. You could find him most days riding his tractor around the yard, moving dirt and rocks, cutting the grass or mulching leaves. He was an avid backyard birder and loved to sit and watch the birds with a cup of coffee. He likely spent a fortune on birdseed over the years. Bob “knew what he liked”-- collecting guns, old western movies, and travel in his younger years (and what he didn’t like- Italian food and garlic). He dedicated many years of his life to service ─ to his country- he was a decorated war veteran, his community, and his family. He was generous to a fault and always happy to help a neighbor, family member, or friend ─ all you had to do was ask. Bob was absolutely devoted to his wife, Shirley, and his family. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Robert will be held on January 6, 2020 from 10 AM until 12 PM, at which time a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. With gratitude for his 26 years of service, burial with full Air Force Honors will follow at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Pegram, TN. Friends and family are requested to follow in procession to the cemetery. Arrangements by Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, a Nashville landmark since 1785, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either The American Cancer Society or The Fisher House Foundation.
