Mr. Robert Lewis McLaran's Obituary
Mr. Robert Lewis “Bob” McLaran, Colonel USAF, Retired. Born February 11, 1928 in Waco, TX, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Matthews McLaran, daughter, Emily Johnson (Duane) Butler, a grandson, AJ (April) Johnson, and great granddaughters, Kyree Lyn and Brooklyn all of Hendersonville.
Colonel McLaran was an active member of the Fellowship II Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, TN and a former member and deacon at Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL. He is a former member and President of the Association of Federal Administrators. He is a member of the national and local chapter of Military Officers Association of America and the Air Force Association.
Colonel McLaran retired with 38 years of military service, serving as a Seaman in the US Navy during WWII and in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He also served in the Alabama Air National Guard holding every grade/ rank from Sergeant to Colonel. He was a graduate of Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, and Squadron Officer School.
Colonel McLaran will be laid to rest at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. Bruce Chesser presiding. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00PM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10:00AM from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be AJ Johnson, Rick Moody, Trip Matthews, Brand Spragins, Rob Butler, and Sidney Chancellor. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship II Sunday School Class, Jim Moody, Glenn Falls, and Wayne Falls. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Wounded Warriors Project.
