Mr. Robert L. "Bob" Reed Jr.'s Obituary
Robert L. “Bob” Reed, Jr., 11/28/32-3/10/18 was preceded in death by wife Janet D. Reed. Bob was born in Gallatin, TN to Robert L. Reed, Sr. and Theresa (Morris) Reed. He graduated from Bass High School in Atlanta, GA where he was an outstanding athlete. Bob attended Georgia Military Academy where as a football player he was voted all Mid-South earning him a football scholarship to the University of Georgia where he lettered in football and was later inducted into the Georgia Hall of Fame. He graduated with a B.A. from the University of Georgia and then entered the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant and was honorably discharged as a captain. He began his career at Genesco where he rose to Vice-President of manufacturing. He then became Executive Vice-President of Texas Boot Company from which he retired. Bob loved fitness, golf, reading, gardening and most of all the “DAWGS”. Bob is survived by his son Matt Reed; daughter Leigh Zimberg; grandchildren Bobby Reed, Caroline (Reed) Ball, Bella Zimberg, and Jack Zimberg. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Ansley Ball and Lilley Ball. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 5pm-9pm and on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 10am-11am. Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11am in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
