Mr. Robert G. Underwood's Obituary
Robert (Bob/Bub) G. Underwood, age 85 passed away on February 23, 2018. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alex P. Underwood, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Underwood and brother Alex P. Underwood, Jr.
Survived by his loving wife, Judy G. Underwood, of 30 years; sons Wayne P. Underwood (Dee Dee) of Knoxville, TN; Lance Korsun (Jen) of Jacksonville, FL and Chip Kaegi (Jacqueline) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; daughters Vickie Trace (Greg) of Jacksonville, FL., and Denise Kelley of Madison, TN. Grandchildren Robert, Ryan, Kevin (Underwood), Brad Kelley; Taylor, Trevor, Travis (Trace); Noah, Asher, Trinity (Kaegi) and Sofia Korsun.
Bob was born in Nashville, graduating from Goodlettsville High School where he was a star athlete, exceling in baseball and football. He served his country proudly during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Sergeant and receiving a Commendation for superior service to the 57th Signal Company. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on October 29, 1954.
Bob retired as an executive from Genesco after 44 years, as president of the Johnston & Murphy division.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4 PM until 8 PM and again on Tuesday, February 27 from 10 AM until 11 AM at which time a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN.
