Mr. Rodney L. Nelson's Obituary
Mr. Rodney Leonard Nelson, 62, a resident of Portland, Tennessee, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Tri-Star Hendersonville Hospital.
The Hayfield, Minnesota native was the son of the late Robert C. and Beth I. Abel Nelson. He was a retired truck driver, enjoyed carpentry projects, gardening, old country music favorites, and farming. He had a entertaining sense of humor, loved visiting with neighbors and people in general. For many years he served as a deacon at the White Hill Community Church in Millersville and proudly served our country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Trotter Nelson; three daughters, Josette (Levi) Van Pelt, Connie (Chris) Freeman and Jennifer McCraw; two sons, Michael (Kelsey) Nelson and David (Tammy) Nelson; three sisters, Sharon Wussow, Carol (James) Kmiecik and Barbara Nelson; four brothers, Robert (Mary) Nelson, Ralph Nelson, Roger(Jacque) Nelson and Russell (Debbie) Nelson; 11 grandchildren; three aunts, Marilyn(Dick) Houdek, Elsie Abel and Florence Nelson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Richard Nelson, Infant Twins, Roy Nelson and Reinold “Babe” Nelson.
A private family entombment service will be conducted Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery Serenity Mausoleum. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 1, 2014 at 4:00PM at the White Hill Community Church in Millersville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Nashville, 615-865-1101.
