Rogers Lee Ray's Obituary
Rogers Lee Ray, age 80, passed away on April 23, 2016.
Rogers was born to Amos Lee Ray and Charline (Peterman) Ray on March 21, 1936 in Harriman, Tennessee.
Mr. Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from January 1954 to February 1961, and in the U.S. Navy from August 1961 to May 1974. He retired with the rank of 1st Class Machinist Mate. His many military awards and decorations include, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), National Defense Medal with Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star and three Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Navy Good Conduct Medal, 3rd award. Mr. Ray will be buried with full military honors.
Rogers retired from the Navy and began his second career at Nashville Thermal Transfer Corporation retiring in 2001.
Rogers is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Martin, sister Oveta Lynn Ross.
Mr. Ray is survived by his true love Patricia, daughter Raegan, his son Barry (Dana), 4 grandchildren, his brothers Ronnie Dean Ray and Lennis H. Ray and his sister Randy LaVigne.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2016 from 5-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 10:00am on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at Spring Hill Cemetery.
