Ms. Rose Mary Anderson's Obituary
Rose Mary Cannon Anderson (Nana Rose) – Born October 14, 1928; Died January 6, 2019. Preceded in death by father, Charles F. Cannon, Jr.; mother, Mary Elizabeth Key Cannon; brother, Charles E. Cannon; sister-in-law, Mary Wylie Cannon. Survived by daughter, Elizabeth Lee Bailey (Walter), Goodlettsville, TN; step-son, Duane Anderson (Carol), Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Anthony Wayne Frensley, Nathan D. Frensley, Laura Bailey, John Bailey (Amy), David Anderson (Jillian), and Lorie Chambless (Scott); beloved great-grandchildren, Cody Frensley, Brittney Frensley, and Eli Bailey; niece, Valorie Cannon Rowe (David); and innumerable children that she taught, cared for, ministered to, and loved over decades of working at church and in local schools. Rose also considered the Cooper family, the Heile family, and the Davis family (and many others) to be like her own, so we would be remiss if we didn’t mention them here, too.
Rose worked at the DuPont plant in Old Hickory for 39 years until her retirement in 1987. Then she found new careers teaching in Mother’s Day Out at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, and later as a teacher’s aide and library assistant at Beech Elementary School and Madison Creek Elementary School. She closed out her working days—although she never would have called it working—by caring for her precious Thomas Heile from the time he was a baby until he started school.
Rose was a faithful member of Long Hollow Baptist Church, staying involved until her health prevented her from doing so, teaching Children’s Sunday School and rocking her babies. She often said she always wanted every child to know Jesus loved them, and that will be her legacy to all who knew her. As soon as you met her, you saw the love of Christ and the joy of the Lord in her life, and she let that light shine on everybody she knew, even until her very last days. She was a prayer warrior and a great friend, and the most wonderful mother a daughter could ever have. Rose never forgot a birthday or a phone number, and she faithfully sent cards to all her friends on their special days.
Rose will be buried among several family members in the historic section of Spring Hill Cemetery in a private service. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Frensley, Nathan Frensley, and Cody Frensley, Don Cooper, and Gary Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Heile, Ben Heile, Andrew Heile, Thomas Heile, Cale Rice, Thomas Trotter; and members of MaryJo Mansfield’s Connect Group at Long Hollow Baptist Church. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Long Hollow Baptist Church on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10 am until 2 pm, when we will have a memorial service to celebrate Rose’s life—a life well-lived. Dr. G.B. Howell will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Long Hollow Baptist Church Mission Fund. And Rose would tell you to be sure to tell your loved ones today how special they are to you because we aren’t promised tomorrow.
We would like to express very special thanks to the nurses, techs, therapists, and other staff at Vanco Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility for the incredible, loving care they gave to Rose in her final weeks. You all cared for my mother as if she were your own, and I will never be able to repay the kindness and love you showed to her and our entire family.
