Rose Evelyn Johns' Obituary
Rose Evelyn Cartwright was born June 25, 1940 to Thomas and Roberta Cartwright. Her parents; two sisters, Anna Grigsby and Clara Cartwright; three brothers, Charles, Fred, and John Cartwright; and her husband, Elzie Johns preceded her in death.
She professed her faith at an early age at Kayne Avenue Baptist Church. As a young lady she loved skating and dancing.
Rose was educated in the Davidson County School System and graduated from Cameron High School. She went on to attend Tennessee State University.
Rose was employed at Belle Meade Country Club for 7 years, it was there she met and married Elzie Johns. To this union, a son was born. Because she loved children, she later went to work for the Metro Nashville school system in the special education division and after 43 years she retired.
Rose’s memory will be cherished by her son, Alzie Lee Johns; her sisters, Mary Starks, Doris Crawford Chapman, Berta Anderson, and Emma Bell; devoted nephews Robert and Jeffrey Crawford and Ronald Murphy Jr.; very devoted niece, Donzella Geter; her best friends, Cynthia Kinnard and Althea Moorehead. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins, Hannah Conley, Ronald Crutcher and the Reed family.
