Ms. Rose Marie Steele's Obituary

Rose Marie Steele, 92, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away peacefully on September 19 at 8:45pm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Rose Newman and Frank Still, her husband of 67 years, Howard Douglas Steele, and two brothers, Robert Earl Newman and Billy Still, as well as brother-in-law David Owen. She is survived by her two sons Roy Douglas Steele (Kendra) of Gallatin and Jamie Howard Steele (Caryn) of Hendersonville, TN. Also survived by five grandchildren: Nicole Ritchie, Spencer Steele (Julie), Lance Steele (Nicole), Cody Steele (Tara), all of Gallatin, TN and Cayce Marie Chance (Bryan) of Nashville, TN. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, Reese and Jase Ritchie, Jacob and Rose Marie Steele, Mason and Maddie Steele, Steele, Crew, and West Chance, and Cross and Cannon Steele. Also survived by two sisters, Betty Owen of Florida and Sue Dorsey (Larry) of Jesup, GA, lots of special nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of special friends.
She was a substitute teacher for many years at Hendersonville Elementary and Hendersonville High School. She was the manager at Size 5-7-9 Shops in Rivergate Mall for 15 years. Also serving on the Board of Directors at Rivergate Mall. In later years, she and her husband drove cars for several local dealerships. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville since 1947. She taught Sunday School there and served as vice president of the UMW and also a “Circle Member” for years. She once walked with her two sons to continue a full year of no missed Sundays. She enjoyed working the “Welcome Phone” at church for many years. She had a special bond with former pastor, Brother Ben Alexander and his wife Betty.
Marie was a very caring and giving person. She made a request that in her memory, try to do a kind deed for someone!

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 27 from 11am-2pm, with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 2pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family.
